BIS Hallmark Gold Coins

Hallmarking

The systematization of the structure enables to give the best Result & Trust to buyers. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) have guidelines for manufacture of gold coins and  jewelry so as to maintain transparency. BIS certifies gold and silver coins and jewellery by stamping it (embossing its mark on the gold item) to certify the level of purity of the item. In addition to that, hallmarking will be done only for gold jewellery and artefact of 22KT, 18KT and 14 KT. Thus 24KT coins and bars don't come under BIS Hallmarking guidelines.

Technology

Inscribing an official mark issues confidence in the product being offered. Hence, at BIS Approved Hallmarking Centres have strict protocols to follow for every gold coin or jewelry with CNC Laser Marking machine, authenticating the purity through a non-impact method which does not cause sinking or bruising damages to items.

Standardization

The gold/silver is accurately weighed on precision balance with 0.001/0.002mg accuracy and subjected to fire assaying (in case of gold) and gravimetric cum Potentiometric Titration method (in case of silver) as per the applicable Indian Standards specification: IS-1418 or IS-2113.

Once the fineness of the samples is found as per the declared purity, the representative jewelry/bar/artefacts lots undergo hallmarking with Jewellers' identification mark and number.
